ALMOND MEAL FACIAL SCRUB

We usually share food recipes in these posts- but almond meal is such a super food for YOUR SKIN that we had to share this simple and powerful facial cleanser & exfoliator- that you can make yourself!

 

Using all natural ingredients on your skin, especially your face, is so much healthier and beneficial for you and your skin! Drug store face washes or even fancy expensive cleansers & lotions can be full of chemicals and other harsh ingredients that are not good at all for your lovely epidermis. People spend tons of money every year on face and body products to try and moisturize or balance their skin, reduce wrinkles and fight acne and breakouts- but there really is a simple solution- go natural! This home made almond meal exfoliating and cleansing scrub is gentle enough to use on a daily basis and won't break your bank! 

Our simple yet effective DIY scrub has 4 ingredients: organic almond meal, organic raw honey, organic cinnamon, and organic argan oil. Your skin is going to LOVE every one of these- as they all have properties that are VITAL to the maintenance of healthy skin.

 ALMOND MEAL: removes dry, dead skin and creates a lovely glow, reduces inflammation, contains an abundance of Vitamin E- an antioxidant which can help protect your skin from harmful UV rays and is essential to maintaining healthy skin, gentle enough to be used on all skin types.

RAW HONEY: don't confuse this with your usual "pure honey"- which has been processed and lost many of its core nutrients. Raw Honey unclogs pores, helps slow the skins' aging process, contains antibacterial properties that deeply cleanse skin and help fight breakouts, is a natural moisturizer & great for even the most sensitive skin.

 ARGAN OIL: this plant oil derived from the Moroccan argan tree is also rich in Vitamin E, is non-greasy and balances skins oils, hydrates and softens skin, is full of antioxidants which helps keep skin clean & healthy, and boosts your skins' elasticity.

 GROUND CINNAMON: brings blood & nutrients to the skins surface- which reduces fine lines and wrinkles and works to stop acne bacteria from forming because it is antimicrobial. Cinnamon has a drying effect so it should always be used in conjunction with carrier oils. 




INGREDIENTS
 

1/4 cup BTOF roasted almond meal -finely ground (just pulse the meal in a food processor for about 20 seconds)
3 tbsp raw organic honey
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tbsp argan oil (you can substitute organic ev olive oil or organic sweet almond oil, which have similar properties)

 

 

DIRECTIONS

Mix all ingredients together in a small bowl until well blended. Store in a closed jar in a cool, dry place (like your medicine cabinet). Will keep for many months if stored properly!


TO USE

1. Dampen face with warm water. Put a small amount of scrub (1/2 to 1 tbsp) onto your damp hands and mix around.

2. Gently rub the almond scrub in upward circles all over your face and neck- be careful around your eyes because of the cinnamon in the mixture.

3. Let sit for a few minutes then rinse with cool water. Apply a natural toner and moisturizer afterwards.
4. If you really want to treat yourself, try this scrub over your whole body once a week or on your problem areas, like elbows, heels, and hands.

 

Within just a couple days your skin should feel softer, be cleaner and look brighter!
